Over the past couple of months, the Wake Internal Medicine Consultants, Inc. (WIMC) family has been growing with the addition of six new providers.
Meet our New Physicians
Matt Schwanke, PA-C – Internal Medicine
Matt has been with Wake Internal Medicine Consultants since 2012. He initially signed on as a provider in our Rx Urgent Care, but he is excited to transition to internal medicine. Matt attended Midwestern University’s Physician Assistant Program in Glendale, Arizona. While he enjoys all aspects of primary care; Matt has special interests in preventive care, healthy lifestyle, managing chronic illness such as hypertension and diabetes, and men’s health. He believes that empowering his patients with knowledge regarding their conditions will lead to a healthier lifestyle and improved quality of life. He also has additional training and experience in orthopedics and brings with him a wealth of knowledge in internal medicine and preventative care.
Jennifer Vu, MD – Internal Medicine & Pediatrics
Dr. Jennifer Vu attended Medical School at East Carolina University and completed her residency at University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Vu was named Pediatric Chief Resident for the 2015 – 2016 year before returning home to North Carolina to begin practicing with Wake Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She enjoys running and time spent with her husband and her dog. She believes in strong physician patient relationships and enjoys the breadth and variety she experiences with working with all ages. Dr. Vu is accepting new pediatric and adult patients at our North Raleigh location.

Dan Richard, MD – Internal Medicine
Dr. Richard attended medical school at the University of Illinois where he graduated at the top of his class. He then completed his family medicine residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999. Prior to joining Wake Internal Medicine, Dr. Richard has been practicing in Cary, North Carolina. He has also been the owner and director of a primary care practice. Dr. Richard is Board Certified in Family Practice. He has a special interest in diabetes, asthma and cardiovascular disease care. He lives in Apex, North Carolina with his two children, a son and a daughter. He enjoys movies, photography, travel and most of all, he enjoys spending time with his family.

Robert Monteiro, MD – Internal Medicine
Dr. Monteiro is a board certified Internist with over 20 years of practice experience. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University, and a Master of Science from Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. He received his medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C and completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Prior to joining Wake Internal Medicine Consultants he practiced in New Bern for 18 years and most recently was the medical director of the Executive Health clinic at UNC. In 2012, Dr. Monteiro served as president of the North Carolina Medical Society. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time at the Carolina coast with his family.

Kaitlin Slone, RDN, LDN – Registered Dietician
Kaitlin Slone is a certified Nutritionist and registered Dietician. Prior to working at Wake Internal Medicine, Kaitlin worked as a Bariatric dietician at WVU medicine in West Virginia. Kaitlin first became interested in nutrition through sports and in her spare time she likes to run and do marathons. Kaitlin has previous experience leading wellness programs and has a comprehensive approach to health. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Lauren Faidley, PA-C – Gastroenterology
Lauren Faidley is a Physician Assistant who will be joining Wake Gastro January 23, 2017. Lauren graduated from Duke University has been practicing at a gastroenterology clinic in California.
