WIMC’s Board Certified Physicians

What sets Wake Internal Medicine Physicians apart?

Wake Internal Medicine Consultants (WIMC) has some of the most highly qualified board certified physicians in the medical field. Each physician is an expert in his or her field, and many times in more than one specialty. Even though our physicians are very skilled and trained in their specialties, they realize that the medical industry is constantly changing. This is why our physicians take part in continuing medical education (CME). Some CME programs are mandatory and all physicians are required to participate. However, some CME programs are voluntary. Our physicians are dedicated to continuing their education in any way possible and many of our physicians attend as many CME programs as possible. This dedication to the excellence of practicing medicine reflects also in the focus of our staff to provide the best patient care and medical services to people in Raleigh, NC and surrounding areas.

Board Certification

All of Wake Internal Medicine physicians are Board Certified in their respective specialties and subspecialties. Many of Wake Internal Medicine physicians are Board Certified in more than one specialty. Board Certification is a process that is significantly different than general medical licensing. While medical licensing establishes minimum standards for physicians to practice medicine and is required, Board Certification is voluntary and is more specialized. Board Certification is achieved when a physician is determined by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) to be an expert in his or her specialty. However, the certification doesn’t stop there. Once a physician is Board Certified they must maintain their certification by continuing development of skills and the assessment of those skills.
