During medical school at State University of New York, he received that Watson Award for outstanding achievement. During his residency at UNC Chapel Hill, he received the Janet J Fischer MD Award, the David A Ontjes MD Award, and the Golden Boots Award.

He currently enjoys spending time with family and exercise- including biking, golf, and basketball.
