Dr. Carly Donahue began her education at NC State before earning her medical degree at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM). She completed her family medicine residency at Atrium Health/Carolinas Medical Center and spent over nine years practicing at Novant Health Steele Creek Family Medicine prior to joining Wake Internal Medicine (WIMC). She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and The Menopause Society.
After nearly a decade in practice, Dr. Donahue was drawn to WIMC’s collaborative culture and a pace that allows her to be fully present with her patients. She was looking for a true long-term home — a place to grow roots, care for patients across years and generations, and work alongside a team as invested in one another’s success as in their patients’ well-being.
Dr. Donahue’s practice style is built on partnership. She listens closely, takes time to know her patients, and works with them to make informed, shared decisions about their health. Her focus leans heavily toward prevention — lifestyle, screening, and early intervention — while also providing thorough, ongoing care for patients managing chronic conditions. She has a particular interest in women’s health, supporting patients through every stage of life with the same attentive, relationship-centered approach. Above all, her goal is to be a trusted, familiar presence in her patients’ lives for the long run — not her next stop, but where she’ll spend the rest of her career.
Outside of work, Dr. Donahue enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and dog. She loves traveling, reading, staying active, cooking, and discovering new restaurants and cuisines.
