Dr. Carly Donahue first began her schooling at NC State and completed her graduate degree at VCOM (Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine). From there, she completed her residency at Atrium/CMC Health. She is a member of AAFP and Menopause Society. Before joining Wake Internal Medicine, Dr. Donahue worked with Novant Health Steele Creek Family Medicine for over nine years.

After almost ten years in practice, Dr. Donahue believed it was important to find a place where a team works together coupled with a pace that allows her to be fully present with her patients. WIMC felt like a practice built on collaboration and support not only for its practitioners but patient care as well.  By joining Wake Internal Medicine, she is looking for a true long-term fit where she can grow roots, work with her patients over years and generations, and be part of a team invested in each other’s success as much as the patients’.

Dr. Donahue’s practice style centers on partnership for shared decision making, active listening and taking time to get to know her patients to help them make informed decisions about their health. She leans heavily towards prevention by working on lifestyle, screening and early intervention while still providing thorough ongoing management for patients already living with chronic conditions. Her goal is to be a trusted familiar presence in her patients’ lives over the long term. She is not looking for my next stop; but rather looking for where she will spend the rest of her career.

Outside of work, Dr. Donahue enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and dog. Frequent past-times include traveling, reading, exercising, cooking, and exploring new restaurants and cuisine.
