The cardiac event monitor is a 30-day heart monitor that is worn to evaluate the functions of the heart.
Cardiology
(WIMC) Wake Internal Medicine Consultants, Inc.’s cardiology department in Raleigh NC offers a wide range of services including:
Cardiac Event Monitoring
Pacemaker Clinic
A patient’s pacemaker functions and battery status are evaluated in the office periodically by a representative from the respective pacemaker company.
Holter Monitoring
A Holter monitor is a continuous tape recording of a patient’s EKG for 24 hours. Since it can be worn during the patient’s regular daily activities, it helps the physician correlate symptoms of dizziness, palpitations or blackouts. Since the recording covers 24 hours, Holter monitoring is much more likely to detect an abnormal heart rhythm when compared to the EKG which lasts less than a minute. It can also help evaluate the patient’s EKG during episodes of chest pain, during which time there may be telltale changes to suggest reduced blood supply to the muscle of the left ventricle.
24 Hour BP Monitoring 2
24-hour blood pressure monitoring is a recording of a patient’s blood pressure.
EKG Testing
An electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart.
Pulmonary Function Testing
Pulmonary function tests, or PFTs, evaluate how well your lungs work. The tests determine how much air your lungs can hold, how quickly you can move air in and out of your lungs, and how well your lungs put oxygen into your blood and remove carbon dioxide from your blood.
